Description

This is an Spanish 8 reale Bust Peso that was popular in the American colonies. It was often cut in halves or quarters to make change. Thus the 4-bit, and 2-bit. The portrait of the King of Spain is on the obverse, on the reverse a pair of pillars separated by a crowned simple shield with ions, castles, pomegranate the centralized three Fleur-de-Lis. This was the fifth and final type of Spanish Colonial Silver coin designed in the New World from 1771-1825.
