Description
The Virginia Colony sought consent by The Crown to issue coins for over 100 Years, permission was granted in 1773. Both the penny & halfpenny has the Head of King George III on the Front & The Virginia Coat of Arms on the Reverse. The pattern in proof was struck on a large plainchant.
The penny has a wide milled border around the coin. The Halfpenny has a narrower border & is slightly smaller.
